Rules for discipline

      • Every student carry with him daily his school diary.
      • The school not responsible for goods lost. We discourage children from brining any expensive article to school.
      • Parents are requested to see that their. Children are regular, punctual neat and tidy and observe the school discipline.
      • Parents/ Guardians are not permitted to see their wards or teacher during teaching time.

      • Every pupil must take part in all school activities (physical or cultural) and converse in English in order to gain fluency.
      • Any child who comes to school late or not is proper uniform will be liable to punishment and will be sent back home.
      • In case of sickness a child must not be sent to school. In such a case the child will be sent back and parents will have to bear the transport charges.
      • No child will be allowed to go home during school hours other than exceptional circumstances.
      • No child is permitted to buy eatables of tidbits form anyone who has not been given permission to sell by the school authority.
      • Student/Nill wear identity card with the school uniform.


      Examination and Rules for Promotion


      The college academic year which begins in April and ends in March will have four terms.
      First Term—April to May
      Second Term—July to September
      Third Term—October to December
      Fourth Term January to March
      Marks will also be given for class work/ home work, oral and short written tests as follows
      Assessment in the following will be done by grades on five-points scale (that is A,B,C,D, & E) .
      Socially useful and productive work (SUPW)
      Art Education
      Physical and Health Education
      General Knowledge

      The Rules for Promotion:

        • The pass percentage in each subject shall be 40 percent from class 6th to Xth.
        • The pass percentage from Nursery to Vth shall be 40% in each subject.
        • The promotion of a student from one class to another shall be determined on the basis of Terminal Assessment as well.
        • The maximum grace marks shall not exceed 5 marks in ay 2 subjects. The grace marks will be granted by the promotion committee. The consolidated marks sheet shall be scrutinized by the promotion committee and the final decision will be taken by the principal.
        • Students must make an aggregate of 40% in all the terminal examination/ Internal assessment.
        • Promotion from 10th to 12th and 9th to 10th will be granted only when the student passes in English and in a 4 in core subjects. Please refer the ICSE/ISC syllabus for complete detail of promotion & subjects which can be offered in Xth & XIIth.
        • The principal reserves the right promotion, at his own discretion on the basis of yearly/ Class wise performance of the student.
        • Promotion refuse will not be re-considered parents guardians are requested not to approach the principal and the teacher and put pressure on college authorities for promotion will mean dismissal of the ward from the college.

      No Student below 75% attendance in the class will be allowed to take the examinations.
      The name of student who fails to get promotion consecutively for two years in the same class will be struck off the rolls.
      Note:
      The above rules are liable to change on the direction of the promotion committee.

      Use of Unfair Means:
      Cheating and use of unfair means by a students in the examination is considered a serious offence, and on being caught a student’s result may be cancelled and he/she may be debarred from appearing in the examination of even rusticated from the school.
      Examination report cards are prepared by the teachers and therefore, no student should make any effort to alter the marks which  have been entered by the teacher, Tampering of progress report card and alteration of marks will be considered a serious and punishable offence.

      Progress Reports
      After duly checking and marking the examination copies will be given to the students for parents to ascertain the performance of their child. Parents are required to sign the test copies and return these to the teacher concerned the very next day.
      In September- December and March the Progress reports cards will be give to the parents. The parents should study the reports very carefully and help their child to improve his/her academic performance and social behavior by employing positive measures.

      Meeting the principal and class teacher
      Kindly note that only the parents will be allowed to meet the principal or the class teacher regarding their child’s performance during the timings motioned below:

      Principal : After 8.00 am to 10.30 am in the school office Monday to Friday, on all working days.
      No parent will be allowed to talk to the teachers during the teaching hours of recess. Kindly co-operate with us in this to improve overall discipline of the college. Parents can meet the teacher only on specified parent- teachers meeting day.

      Private tuitions:
      Please do not ask the school teacher for private tuition of your wards as this is no permitted. It is expected that the class room teaching is sufficient for an average child. However, if in your opinion your child needs extra help please find time to do it yourself or engage an outside tutor.

      Parents Teacher meetings:
      The parent-teacher meeting will be held before each examination/test in the school premises. We want that you should have a first-hand knowledge of your child’s performance in the school, and hence, we will entertain only the parents to these meetings. Kindly note that guardians, tutors, sisters, brothers etc.
      will not be allowed to substitute.

      General instructions:
      For Student

      1. Students are expected to talk in English while in the school.
      2. All the students are required to attend the morning assembly every day. Late comers to the assembly may be sent back home.
      3. Students are expected to maintain complete silence during morning assembly and school hours and, while walking up and down the staircase or verandahs, Loitering in the school campus is not allowed outside school hours and on holidays.
      4. No students will write anything on the walls, doors or furniture or disfigure of damage school property.
      5. All applications for leave are to be signed by the parents application for leave on medical grounds are to be supported by an authentic medical certificate. No student suffering from a contagious disease will be allowed to attend the school till he/she brings a medical certificate of fitness.
      6. No students will be allowed to sit in the examinations unless all the dues have been paid in full upto-date.
      7. A minimum of 75% attendance in the classes is a compulsory requirement.
      8. No students is allowed to leave the school premises during school hours without prior permission of the principal. In case of unforeseen emergency the class teacher should be contacted.
      9. Students are not allowed to receive visitors during school hours.
      10. All belongings of a student, that is, books, stationery, Tiffin box, water bottle, bag etc. must bear his/her name on them expensive items such as gold jewelry, watch, mobile phone, large amount of cash etc. and fire crackers, sharp edged instruments or weapons should not be brought to the school. The student will be responsible for the safe custody of his her belongings.
      11. Constant negligence of class work or home work, irregular attendance, disobedience, obscene, behavior that and violence will be considered serious offences and will lead to severe punishment of even expulsion from the school.

       

      The Picture of a student of St. Mark’s College:

      1. He/She is always polite to other in and out of college.
      2. He/She avoid vulgarity in hi/her talk and behavior.
      3. He/She accept whatever work is assigned to him/her as his/her rightful duty. He/She will always face difficulties by being of good courage.
      4. He/She is always ready to lend a helping hand at home his/her parents, brothers and sisters in colleges to his teachers and companions and any visitor he happens to meet in the college premises of outside.
      5. He /She rises when any officer, teacher of visitor enters of passes through any room or place, he happens to be in.
      6. He/She is courteous and sportsmen like/ sports, women like with opposing teams and with officials.
      7. He /She avoids quarrels cheating or the use of under means at play and in class.
      8. He/She is truthful at all cost.
      9. He/She learns that quality is the trait of a bully, while kind ness if the marks of a gentleman/lady.
      10. He/She never makes fun of the old or the poor for he/she knows god’s hand rest lovingly on the heads of all people.
      11. He/She respects college property and the rights of other students using it.
      12. He/She respect the beauty of his/her class room and the college premises and abhors and reports and damage he may observe.
      13. He/She learns to observe good manners every where.
      14. He /She never hesitates to say no when asked or tempted to do a thing which he/she knows to be wrong.
      15. He/She tries to contribute his/her share in making the world a better place to live in by adhering to his/her college motto “Be of Good Courage” (Ps43)

      I shall pass through this world but once. If therefore there be any kindness I can show, or any good I can do let me not defer it nor neglect it for I shall not pass this way again.

      For Parents:
      1-The school diary is an important means of co-operation and co-ordination between the school, the parents and I the child, and therefore, must be brought to the school daily  by the child, Parents are requested to check the diary every day in order to obtain any information or message which has been sent to them by the school.

      2-Parents must make their own arrangements for safe reaching and return of their children to and from the school. The child must be instructed to return home from the school only with known persons with whom such an arrangement has been made. The school will not be held responsible if a child goes out of the school with an unknown person or runs away home on its own. All children should leave the school campus within half-an-hour of closure of the school.

      3 Parents of Nursery, Lower and upper KG. Should leave their children with the school Ayas inside the gate. Other (Class 1to XII) should be left at the main gate of the school as they do not require any assistance in going to their respective classes. Parents are not allowed to enter the class rooms without permission of the Principal.
      4- Scooters and motor-bikes should be parked by the guardians on the left hand side of the school gate. For the safety of the children please leave enough space for them to walk conveniently on the road and pavement.
      5- Parents are requested to ensure that their children do their home work regularly, learn their lessons and keep up to the mark in their studies.
      6- Parents should also keep a watch on the physical and mental health of their children. Special attention should be paid to the eye sight, hearing, speech and body coordination. Any difficulty of abnormality if noticed should be promptly shown to a competent doctor.
      7- Students who keep their bicycles of mopeds in the school will be charged Rs. 25/- per month of Rs. 200 for the whole year.

      Rules for the payment of fees

      Annual charges must be paid at the beginning of each term.
      The advance tuition fee is to be remitted through Bank Book within the specified period. A late fee with fine of Rs. 50/- will be imposed thereafter. Payment schedule is from 10th of every month to 30th & 31st of every month in Bank.
      If the fee is not paid consecutively for two months the pupil’s name will be struck off the roll and re-admission may not be granted.
      The last date of clearing all the dues of the year is 15th March and after that only. Students will be permitted to sit for the final examination.
                  Fee for the month of June will be charged along with the fee of May & fee for the month of December would be charged along with the fee of November month.
