It was in the year 1930 that the Bishop of Lucknow. The Rt. Rev. C.J.A. Saunders and Rev. A.J. Revnell Superintending  Wesleyan Chaplain in India, felt the need of an English medium School in Jhansi. Their devoted efforts gave birth to “St. Mark’s School” on the 14th of January 1931 the School was housed in a building donated by the Y.W. C.A. of Jhansi.

The school was named “ St Mark’s School after the first Church St. Mark’s Shimla.

The school had a humble beginning with twelve students and four staff members the motto of the school “Be of Good Courage” found in PSALM 31:24 was chosen by Miss Waddel the first Headimistress.

In 1936 is was found necessary to add more rooms to the existing building and to appint accepting boys upto the age of twelve years, but gradually the boy out numbered the girls hence a Headmaster was thought to be appointed in January 1945 Mr. A.E.T. Barrow took charge of the school as the first Headmaster during Mr. Borrow’s tenure as Headmaster. The School developed greatly and it would not be wrong to say that his dynamic leadership was responsible for the rapid growth of this college.

On the 16th October 1948 Mr. T.E. Allen took charge of the school. Mr. Allen like his predecessors also proved blessing to this institution and towards the end of 1949 the school was raised to the status of a High School. Mr. Allen left in December 1966 to join as principle Bishop Cotton School. Banglore. Mr. Allen added four rooms to the Primary Section.

The first batch on nine candidates was presented for the Cambridge School leaving Certificate Examination in December 1951.

In the year 1949 the school acquired the Methodist Church across the road for its Kindergarten section but the number was going up so rapidly that may more room were constructed to meet the need.
           
In the year 1976 the school was raised to the status of college preparing candidates for the ISC (12) Examination in Science. Affiliated to ICSE Delhi Council.

The number still continues to increase and now it has reached over 2500 students both boys and girls. At present St. Marks. College has two more of its braches. One is St. Mark’s School, Babina and the other is St. Marks. School Sipri Branch. The College imparts education in the following subjects English, Hindi, Science, Mathematics, Social Studies, Economics, Computer, Electronic and S.U.P.W. St Mark’s has one of the best teaching faculties well equipped class rooms and laboratories. It also provides excellent facilities for co curricular activities. The college imparts education strictly through the medium of English.
